Dog Comes In, Cat Goes Out is an exhibition in two parts that takes place at Tag Team Studio and Trykkeriet, Bergen. All the work in the exhibition has been produced at Trykkeriet, during Phillips´production residency in August and September 2018. The opening on Friday 14. September will take place at both venues. At 7pm we open at Tag Team Studio, and at 8.30pm a bus will be available to take everyone to Trykkeriet. Make sure to see both parts! A warm meal will served at Trykkeriet, and you are welcome to stay late.
The phrase Dog Comes In, Cat Goes Out is a mnemonic device, used to visualise the phases of the moon. Dog indicates the shape of the first quarter moon, Cat the last quarter moon. The full moon appears somewhere between these two animals.
Ciara Phillips’ printing practice is often considered political. She is known for examining the democratic potential of the printing process by inviting different communities into the gallery space to work with her in a functioning printshop. She works context-specifically with communities that she connects with through her work. In Dog Comes In, Cat Goes Out other aspects of her interest in the medium of print are also revealed.
